Virtualization Support for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0
April 21, 2008 18:41 by menno

I haven't had the time to write about it, but recently Microsoft updated KB article 946600. You might wonder why you want to know that right? Well, in the past years Consultants, Developers and Customers have asked me if Microsoft Dynamics CRM was supported in a virtualized production environment. The answer was always NO, until recently!

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 is now officially supported to run on a computer that is running Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 in production systems. In addition, the Microsoft Dynamics CRM team is committed to the following:

  • Continuing support for virtualized environments in future releases of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Testing Microsoft Dynamics CRM running on upcoming Microsoft virtualization technologies and publishing updated support policies as these technologies become available.

Don't you love it when a Product Team actually listens to people that live in the real world!

Unfortunately still no support for VMware environments which still is more used at our customers than Microsoft Virtual Server 2005...

Wow, no support for VMWare? I don't think Hyper-V is going to be replacing (or even competing with IMO) VMWare any time soon!
